Is gaming becoming too expensive?

Gaming is becoming an expensive hobby, especially with the rising prices of consoles, gaming PCs, new releases and in-game purchases. Even subscriptions and downloadable content can add up, making it harder for casual gamers to keep up.

Do you think gaming is becoming too expensive for the average player, or are there still enough affordable ways to enjoy it?

Yes, Gaming even as a hobby is becoming more expensive and less accessible. Game costs and file sizes are increasing. Micro transactions are more prevalent now Video game consoles are more expensive than ever, right as they should be getting cheaper. AI and tariffs are partly to blame

Gaming has turned into luxury for many gamers. The PS5 is costly and new games are around $70. Because of that many of us have moved to the affordable ways like the mobile games and older consoles.

Unfortunately, it’s a bit expensive—though not extremely so, considering that decades ago games cost between $20 and $40. So, while there has been an increase, it’s not exactly outrageous. Still, if this trend continues, games could eventually cost even more—perhaps $100 or beyond—and that is clearly a very high price to pay for a game. Sure, the game might be incredibly good, and a lot of money may have gone into its development, but that price point is just too high; at a certain stage, the cost becomes absurd.

Yes, even Video games are more expensive now due to the rising costs of development, that has to do with its graphics, storylines, and the overall complexity of modern gaming The price tag for games now can be shocking, but game development costs have skyrocketed too. Creating them cost money as a game has bigger teams, voice acting, motion capture, and even marketing it.

Yes, I know they cost a lot of money, but that still doesn’t justify such high prices. I’m not saying they shouldn’t raise prices to maximize their profits, but $80 to $100? That seems way too expensive for games. Nowadays, the price for games should really be between $60 and $70—that range would be understandable in the current market.
